INVESTING WORKING HOURS IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES

INVESTING WORKING HOURS IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Friday the 21st of June, the two Danish PNO offices spent an unusual day out of the office helping the local communities of Copenhagen and Horsens improving the nearby natural areas.

As already started by other PNO branches, now it’s the turn of our Danish teams to make an effort in supporting the local communities.

The PNO Group Office spent the day helping the keepers of Sydhavnstippen in southern Copenhagen to remove invasive plant species that threaten the original flora and fauna of the urban natural area. The initiative also turned into a great opportunity to learn about the history and purposes of the area, and of its four-legged inhabitants, while creating better user access for the local community.

In the meantime PNO Denmark gathered at Husodde Strand to clean up the shore from waste irresponsibly left by visitors. This project, organized in collaboration with Horsens Kommune, also drew attention to the urgent need of a behavioral change from the beach’s guests. Both from an environmental and socio-economical point of view, as the municipality is currently spending unnecessary money on removing waste from the beach area.

In light of the success of these initiatives, our two teams have already planned to organize similar projects later this year.
