We want to use business as a force of good

PNO is in the process of becoming a B Corp certified company.  By applying for the B Corp status, we commit to meeting the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, to  act transparent, and to balance profit and purpose.

NEW MEASURES OF SUCCESS
We care about what we do – and we care about each other, the relations we have to stakeholders and the world. Our decisions are based on People, Planet & Profit. We believe that the world’s most challenging issues cannot be solved by governments and nonprofits alone. Therefore, we have joined the B Corp community of corporations that work toward a positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment. A movement where business is used as a force of good, and where social and environmental performance are the measures of success.

Acting responsible and sustainable is not new to PNO – it has been part of our core values since my father established PNO in 1975. The B Corp framework will strengthen our performance by challenging our approach to social and environmental responsibility, and identifying further action, globally and locally. With the support and guidance of B Corp, we aspire to lead the transition toward a sustainable transport industry.

          – Jacob Lee Ørnstrand, Group CEO

We have concluded  that the first steps toward a more sustainable company are to look closer at our purchase behaviour, optimize our market offerings, and increase our involvement in local communities. Internally we have appointed an ambassador at each office to lead  the local initiatives. A significant task for them is to find a local project where they can volunteer as a team with their colleagues two days a year. The volunteering will be performed in PNO working hours.

The New Cool reefer will together with our digital solutions ensure that we offer our customers sustainable solutions that benefit both their business and the environment.

THE B CORP ASSESMENT
To become B Corp certified, a company must go through the B Corp Assessment, which is a comprehensive and industry-specific tool designed to measure the social and environmental impacts of a company. The company is measured within four pillars: governance, employees, local community, and environment.  The company must get a score of minimum 80 points to get a B Corp certification.

The assessment furthermore provides an insight into where the company is doing good, and where it can do better. In average it take takes at least two rounds of  assessment before an organization becomes certified. At PNO, we just finished our first assessment with a score of 72.5 points. We are now working to improve our score by actively pushing forwards with initiatives that support the four pillars of governance, employees, local community, and environment.
