American brewery Anheuser-Busch leads the road towards clean energy logistics

Beer gigant Anheuser-Busch and hybrid truck company Nikola have made a deal on 800 hydrogen-powered semi trucks to be delivered in 2020.

The zero-emission truck order is part of Anheuser-Busch announcement earlier this year stating that the company’s operations will run on renewable energy by 2025. An ambitious initiative that we at PNO welcomes and are impressed by.

In order for the transport industry to make great sustainable changes, we need the end-customers to push such initiatives through. When Anheuser-Busch invests in clean energy and takes the risicis related to the new technologies, they force their entire supply chain to meet their green requirements and take on environmental responsibilities. Progress in climate change mitigation is not made by the available technology alone – in the end it comes down to the customers’ demands and their willingness to invest in sustainability.
